A drug called, sold as Viagra, was to be sold to men over the counter on the NHS, according to the Department of Health’s website. But it was not in the UK’s most popular medicines.
It was not clear whether the drug could be sold to the general public, or to the NHS as a private, public service.
But it is not the first time the drug has been sold in the NHS for sex in the UK, according to NHS officials.
A 2022 survey of private and NHS doctors showed that almost all prescriptions of Viagra, the drug of choice in men’s health, were to the NHS.

The drugs are prescribed in packs of 30 tablets, each costing £5.99.
